About Aerospacelab

Aerospacelab designs and manufactures small satellites combined with earth observation services. Since 2018, the company has grown to over 300 full-time employees across offices in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), Toulouse (France), Lausanne (Switzerland) and US West Coast, with the goal of becoming the European leader in small satellites.

The Role

You will design and optimize RF systems and components for satellite telecom payloads including transponders, antennas, SSPAs, and frequency converters. You will support all aspects of the development chain: requirements, architecture, design, manufacturing, integration, test, and operations.

  • Develop test plans that ensure adequate testing of units and the complete system
  • Work on RF and telecommunication spacecraft architecture with various teams (mechanical, electrical, software, FPGA)
  • Support design reviews to ensure requirements and interface compliance
  • Collaborate with external telecommunication system providers to review designs, identify and resolve issues, and develop integration and test approaches
  • Execute in-lab testing and on-orbit performance validation using advanced RF measurement tools such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in telecommunication systems, RF electronics or antenna design
  • Experience with RF simulation and modeling tools (e.g. HFSS, ADS)
  • Experience with RF design and manufacturing (PCB, waveguide, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers)
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously across teams and drive multi-disciplinary projects to completion
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluency in English

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of telecommunication payloads and standards
  • Knowledge of software-defined radios (SDR) and digital signal processing (DSP)
  • Experience with scripting language (Python)
  • Experience in space industry
  • Willingness to work outside your comfort zone
