- Design satellite communication systems including beam size and number, bandwidth, and coverage
- Develop RF link budgets and conduct performance assessments using simulation tools
- Design modulation, coding, and multiplexing techniques for reliable satellite links
- Work with designers and customers on high-level architecture
- Support all aspects of development: requirements, architecture, design, manufacturing, integration, test, operations
- Work on RF and telecommunication spacecraft architecture across RF, electrical, software, FPGA and network teams
- Support design reviews for requirements and interface compliance
- Collaborate with external telecommunication system providers to review designs and develop integration and test approaches
- Execute in-lab testing and on-orbit performance validation using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years experience in telecommunication systems, RF electronics or antenna design
- Knowledge of telecommunication payloads and one or more standards (DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS2, 5G, CCSDS, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously across teams to drive multi-disciplinary projects
- Good communication skills
- Fluency in English
Desirable Experience
- Experience in frequency coordination (ITU, FCC)
- Work on telecommunication satellite constellations
- RF systems analysis tools (SystemView or equivalent)
- Software-defined radios (SDR) and digital signal processing (DSP)
- RF subsystems (transponders, antennas, amplifiers, frequency converters, SSPA)
- Interference analysis
- Python or other scripting languages
