Associate Embedded Software Engineer Verified today
About the role
As an Associate Embedded Software Engineer on AnySignal's Space Software team, you'll develop mission-critical embedded software for advanced radio systems supporting space and defense applications. You'll gain hands-on experience across the embedded software stack, from low-level RF integrated circuit drivers and high-speed FPGA interfaces to embedded Linux, networking, and fault-tolerant software architecture.
You'll work alongside experienced software, hardware, and FPGA engineers to solve real engineering challenges, contribute to reliable communications and sensing capabilities, and take on increasing technical ownership as you grow. Your work will directly support products operating in demanding environments where reliability and performance are essential.
What you'll do
- Own the development of mission-critical embedded C++ running on Linux-based embedded systems
- Collaborate with software, hardware, DSP, and FPGA engineers to define system requirements, interfaces, and architecture
- Participate in hardware bring-up, schematic reviews, and hands-on debugging of embedded radio platforms
- Build automated hardware-in-the-loop tests to validate system performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across embedded hardware and software systems
- Work directly with customers to integrate products into flight systems, debug RF links, and ensure mission success
Required skills
- Working knowledge of C++ or C programming
- At least 1 year relevant embedded systems experience, or equivalent internship, coursework, or hands-on project experience
- Experience developing software on Linux platforms or microcontrollers
- Willingness to learn new technologies and take ownership of technical challenges
- Passion for understanding the hardware that your software talks to
Desired skills
- Network programming, including TCP/IP, UDP, and socket programming
- Digital signal processing, modem design, and RF communications concepts
- Board bring-up, schematic review, and hardware troubleshooting
- Testing and debugging RF hardware in a lab using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and RF test equipment
- Development for Xilinx MPSoC-based devices
- Linux platform development, such as Buildroot, U-Boot, and Xilinx FSBL creation
- Writing RTL for FPGAs or software that interacts with the FPGA fabric
- Python, build systems (CMake, Make, Bazel), and CI pipeline development (GitLab)
- Hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Robotics, aerospace, communications, or other hardware-focused engineering projects
Compensation and benefits
Base salary range: $110,000 to $145,000 per year, plus equity. Final salary depends on qualifications, relevant experience, skills, and market considerations.
Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401k program, competitive paid time off, and paid parental leave.
Export control requirements
To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b, or eligible to obtain necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
