The Role

As an Embedded Software Engineer on AnySignal's Space Software team, you'll take ownership of mission-critical embedded systems, from design and implementation through testing and deployment on customer missions. Your work will span the embedded software stack, from low-level RF integrated circuit drivers and high-speed FPGA interfaces to embedded Linux, networking, and fault-tolerant software architecture.

Your work will support reliable communications and sensing capabilities across demanding space and defense missions, where software must anticipate failures and operate reliably in environments where physical intervention is limited.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development of mission-critical embedded systems, driving overall product success beyond the scope of software.
  • Design, develop, and test reliable C++ code running on Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Build software across our stack, including low-level RF integrated circuit drivers, high-speed FPGA interfaces, and fault-tolerant system failure recovery.
  • Support hardware bring-up, schematic reviews, and debugging embedded radio platforms.
  • Build automated hardware-in-the-loop tests to validate system performance and reliability.
  • Work directly with our customers to integrate our products into their flight systems, debug RF links, and ensure mission success.

Required Skills

  • Ability to own a complete system, including software and everything that it interfaces with.
  • Proficiency in C++.
  • Experience developing embedded software on Linux platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across embedded hardware and software systems.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with network programming, including TCP/IP, UDP, and socket programming in embedded Linux environments.
  • Working knowledge of digital signal processing, modem design, and RF communications concepts.
  • Experience developing fault-tolerant software for mission-critical applications, especially in radiation environments.
  • Experience with board bring-up, schematic review, and troubleshooting hardware.
  • Hands-on experience testing and debugging RF hardware in a lab environment using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other RF test equipment.
  • Experience developing for Xilinx MPSoC-based devices.
  • Experience with embedded Linux platform development, including Buildroot, U-Boot, and Xilinx FSBL creation.
  • Experience writing RTL for FPGAs or software that interacts with the FPGA fabric.
  • Experience with Python, build systems (CMake, Make, Bazel), and CI pipeline development (GitLab).

Compensation

Base salary range: $130,000 to $165,000 per year, plus equity. Final base salary will depend on qualifications, relevant experience, skills, and market considerations.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) program, competitive paid time off, and paid parental leave.
