About the Role
Apex is seeking an Early Power Electronics Engineer to work on a closely integrated team driving the architecture, development and delivery of flight-critical power systems for our spacecraft.
You'll design spacecraft power generation, storage, conversion and distribution to meet requirements of our spacecraft platforms. You'll approach clean-sheet design and inform coupled trades across Apex's fleet. You'll also contribute to component development in our vertically integrated environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, analysis and testing of spacecraft power systems, including power generation, energy storage, distribution and DC-DC conversion for harsh environments
- Perform electrical power system and sub-system level design trades and develop requirements
- Perform electrical power system verification testing and analysis
- Work with multidisciplinary teams of design, test and production engineers to create new power electronics hardware
- Drive system and electrical architecture trades, product requirements, component selection, design analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, design documentation, manufacturing planning and production test
- Lead technical development, manage related risk and change across the program and drive new technology introduction
Requirements
- U.S. Person status required to access export controlled data
- 1+ years of spacecraft electronics experience
- Experience across spacecraft power systems
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or related field (Master's preferred but not required)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to convey decisions and conclusions to multiple audiences
- Extensive experience in spacecraft design, launch and operation across all phases of the development lifecycle
- Experience in integrated software/hardware verification and testing
Compensation
Salary Range: $88,000-121,000 per year
Full-time employees are eligible for equity, medical/dental/vision coverage, 401(k) with matching (100% on first 3%, 50% on next 2%), 15-20+ days vacation plus 10 paid holidays, 8 weeks paid parental leave and other benefits.
