About the Role
Apex seeks a spacecraft RF/Comms System Engineer to drive the design of communications hardware and software for our satellite bus and ground systems. You will approach this from clean sheet design, inform vehicle architecture trades, and push the limits of performance while shaping the commercial space industry.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and develop RF, digital, and optical satellite communications systems and spacecraft architectures
- Define and verify space communication system requirements and interfaces
- Perform link budgeting, signal distortion, capacity, reliability, and performance analysis and simulation
- Develop analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms
- Develop and verify system algorithms that meet functional and performance requirements
- Drive requirements for subcomponents and supplier selection
- Perform hardware procurement, integration, design reviews, and verification
- Build and integrate ground segment systems and conduct integration testing
- Work closely with payload customers to accommodate their requirements
- Collaborate with other engineers to achieve overall system requirements
Required Qualifications
- 3-6 years of spacecraft RF and telemetry communications experience
- Experience across multiple spacecraft programs
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (M.S. preferred)
- Extensive experience in spacecraft design, launch, and operation across all development lifecycle phases
- Experience in integrated software/hardware verification and testing
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate decisions and conclusions to multiple audiences
- U.S. Person status required to access export controlled data
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $140,000 to $180,000 per year
