About the Role

AST SpaceMobile is building the first global cellular broadband network in space, operating directly with standard mobile devices. We are seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to design and test electrical harnesses for satellites and ground support equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design, test, and integrate electrical harnesses for spacecraft and ground systems.
  • Create electrical schematics, select wiring, connectors, back shells, and harness components to meet company and industry standards.
  • Develop and execute test plans to verify functionality, reliability, and performance of electrical harness systems.
  • Conduct testing, analyze test data, and troubleshoot issues to meet design requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation including interface control documents, schematics, block diagrams, harness drawings, and installation procedures.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams across power, RF, command and data handling to integrate electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of industry experience or recent graduate with hands-on project experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of space environment and industry standards.
  • Understanding of harness design principles, cable routing, shielding, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Proficiency in CAD software: Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, CATIA, or Mentor Graphics.
  • Experience with electrical simulation tools: SPICE or MATLAB.
  • Prior experience in electrical harness design through internships, co-op programs, or aerospace projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and design.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in standard office environment with extended computer use.
  • Occasional hands-on work with hardware in lab environments.
