About the Role

AST SpaceMobile is building the first global cellular broadband network in space, designed to operate directly with standard mobile devices. We're seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and test electrical harnesses for satellites and associated ground support equipment.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design, test, and support integration of electrical harnesses for spacecraft and ground systems.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, select wiring, connectors, back shells, and other harness components, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Develop and execute test plans to verify functionality, reliability, and performance of electrical harness systems.
  • Conduct testing and validation procedures, analyze test data, and troubleshoot issues to meet design requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including interface control documents, system schematics, block diagrams, harness drawings, and installation procedures.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (power, RF, command and data handling, and other subsystems) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of space environment and industry standards.
  • Understanding of harness design principles, cable routing, shielding, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for harness design (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, CATIA, Mentor Graphics).
  • Experience with electrical simulation and analysis tools (SPICE, MATLAB).
  • Prior experience in electrical harness design through internships, co-op programs, or academic projects related to aerospace engineering.
