About the role
AST SpaceMobile is building a global cellular broadband network in space to deliver connectivity to unmodified mobile devices worldwide. We need a Gateway Antenna Engineer to ensure our gateway and telemetry stations operate reliably across the globe.
You will monitor connectivity and operational status in real time, troubleshoot network anomalies and failures, and resolve incidents. You'll maintain satellite teleport systems and infrastructure, provide customer-facing technical support, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on escalations and system upgrades.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor connectivity and operational status of global gateway and telemetry stations
- Troubleshoot anomalies and network failures, conduct root-cause analysis, and escalate as required
- Maintain detailed incident documentation, manage trouble tickets, and generate reports
- Provide first-line customer-facing technical support via phone, email, and chat
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on satellite teleport systems and infrastructure
- Operate and maintain fault management systems to track network health and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on escalations, upgrades, and system changes
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Satellite or Cellular Communications
- Hands-on experience with RF systems, high-power amplifiers, converters, antenna drive systems, and baseband equipment
- Solid knowledge of IP networks, fiber optics, modems, multiplexers, and broadband systems
- Proficiency in remote monitoring tools, system diagnostics, and remote desktop platforms
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated experience with monitoring and fault management tools
Preferred qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Flexible and adaptable in dynamic, fast-paced operational environments
Physical requirements
- Onsite work required at Lanham/DC office
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces or elevated locations to access antenna and RF equipment
- Ability to work rotating shifts, on-call, or outside standard business hours to support continuous gateway and telemetry station monitoring
