The Role
You will work on hard problems alongside the avionics engineering team for twelve weeks. Associate Engineers work on projects of equal importance to full-time roles, and many past Associates have designed hardware and software now flying on orbit.
- Build and test flight hardware with the avionics engineering team
- Design test equipment to validate designs across stressed conditions
- Bring up and debug designs in the lab
- Write code in Python or C++ to evaluate performance and automate testing of satellite hardware
- Assist with low-level software to interface with spacecraft subsystems
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
- Plans to pursue a graduate degree after your time at Astranis
- Interest in learning about and working with spacecraft systems and subsystems
- Passion for hardware development in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Experience with Python and/or C++
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch
- US Citizenship or Green Card
Bonus Skills
- PCB design software (Altium Designer or similar)
- SPICE-based simulators (LTSpice, PSPICE, ADS, etc)
- Soldering and rework experience
- Familiarity with lab bench equipment (power supply, oscilloscope, multimeter)
- Switched mode converter design (boost and buck converters)
Compensation
Base salary: $1,925 per week.
