About the role

As an Avionics-Focused Electrical Integration Engineer at Astranis, you will be responsible for developing, designing, and implementing tests and test systems for the vast majority of electronics on our spacecraft. You'll prove that our suite of avionics, power, propulsion, and thermal designs work across environments to guarantee success on orbit.

What you will do

• Develop and design automated hardware and software solutions to test and validate flight-worthy hardware
• Firefight complex vehicle electrical systems issues
• Design PCBAs to interface with flight hardware
• Write software in object-oriented Python to control test equipment, custom hardware, and our satellites
• Ensure high caliber products by implementing new integration and test processes that raise efficiency without compromising quality
• Lead large, high-visibility test campaigns with multiple stakeholders across the company, including scheduling, work distribution, risk mitigation, and execution
• Work closely with the design team to provide feedback and insight through qualification and acceptance processes
• Contribute to large inter-organisational mitigation efforts of system-level and unit-level issues
• Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent technical degree
• 1+ years of experience or equivalent internship or project experience
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
• Experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)
• Experience debugging systems and circuits with multiple layers of hardware and software integration
• Experience working with and comprehending wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and block diagrams
• Exposure to turning high-level requirements into clear design and test objectives
• Passion for hardware development, including working in fast-paced environments with hands-on design and development

Bonus experience

• Environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal, burn-in, and TVAC
• Technical project management
• Altium Designer
• Python
• Designing and building electrical harnesses and connectors
• Automating tests, test equipment, or similar instrumentation

Compensation and benefits

Base salary: $115,000-$145,000 USD
