The Role
As an Environmental Test Engineer Associate, you will work on an interdisciplinary team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software over a twelve-week period. This is a salaried role for candidates who have already earned a bachelor's degree.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operate and set up environmental test equipment: ambient thermal chambers, thermal vacuum chambers (TVAC), vibration shaker tables, and EMI/EMC test equipment
- Learn to use test equipment and instruments including thermal chambers, vibration tables, data acquisition systems, and oscilloscopes
- Set up, operate, and conduct environmental testing including vibration, acoustics, thermal, thermal vacuum, and RF testing
- Work on projects of equal importance and difficulty to those assigned to full-time engineers
Many past Associate Engineers have designed and tested hardware and software now in space or launching soon on Astranis satellites, and many have transitioned to full-time roles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical field
- Passion for hardware development in fast-paced, hands-on environments
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with spacecraft systems and operation
- Must be onsite 5 days per week
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status required (export control compliance)
Bonus Skills
- Hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing
- Python coding experience interfacing with test equipment, processing datasets, or visualizing data
- CAD experience
- Direct electrical or mechanical design experience
- Ability to debug hardware and software problems under time pressure
Compensation
Base salary: $1,925 per week
