Environmental Test Engineer Associate (Winter 2027)
This is a 12-week salaried associate role for graduates with a bachelor's degree. You will work on meaningful projects of equal importance and difficulty to those assigned to full-time employees. Many past associates have designed and tested hardware and software now in space on Astranis satellites, and several are now full-time staff.
What you will do
- Work on an interdisciplinary team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software
- Operate and set up environmental test equipment: ambient thermal chambers, thermal vacuum chambers (TVAC), vibration shaker tables, and EMI/EMC test equipment
- Learn to use various test instruments including thermal chambers, vibration tables, data acquisition systems, and oscilloscopes
- Set up, operate, and conduct environmental testing including vibration, acoustics, thermal, thermal vacuum, and RF tests
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
- Passion for hardware development and working in fast-paced, hands-on environments
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with spacecraft systems and operation
- Must be onsite 5 days per week
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status required (ITAR compliance)
Bonus experience
- Hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing
- Python coding to interface with test equipment, process datasets, and visualize data
- CAD experience
- Direct electrical or mechanical design experience
- Demonstrated ability to debug hardware and software problems under time pressure
Compensation
Base salary: $1,925 per week
