About the Role
As a Propulsion Technician, you will coordinate and support production of propulsion hardware for Astranis satellites. You will operate and maintain a world-class CNC tube bender, manage metal fabrication tools, and oversee inventory of space hardware.
Responsibilities
- Program, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain a CNC tube bender and other metal fabrication tools for aerospace applications
- Prepare metal components for welding and assembly into micro-GEO satellites
- Manage inventory and material traceability for thousands of propulsion components
- Perform dimensional and quality inspections on propulsion components and assemblies
- Follow processes and work instructions, complete associated paperwork, and provide feedback to process authors
- Identify and procure capital equipment, manage installation, and perform commissioning
- Support other teams across the factory and learn new skills as needed
Requirements
- Ability to program CNC equipment and operate fabrication tools
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, test plans, and work procedures
- Ability to operate cranes, man lifts, tugs, and handling equipment
- Willingness and ability to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as required
- Willingness and ability to travel to support vendor visits and trainings
- Ability to perform climbing, prolonged standing, grasping, sitting, pulling, and physical bending movements
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted
Bonus Experience
- 3+ years experience in tube bending, aerospace/high-precision assembly, fabrication, or CNC machine operation
- Experience operating a CNC tube bender
- Experience operating a FARO arm or CMM
- Understanding of GD&T
- Experience with orbital tube welding (OTW)
- Experience in other satellite production roles such as machining, welding, assembly, or harnessing
Compensation and Benefits
Base hourly pay: $36-$47 USD. Compensation includes equity via incentive stock options, company-subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance, 401(k) retirement planning, flexible PTO, and free on-site catered meals.
