RF Hardware Engineer Associate (Summer 2027)
This is a 12-week salaried Associate Engineer position in San Francisco for graduates who have completed a bachelor's degree (or will have done so before the start date).
You will design, simulate, implement, and measure RF sub-systems that fly on Astranis satellites. Associate Engineers work on projects of equal importance and difficulty to full-time roles. Many past Associates have designed hardware and software now in orbit, and several have joined Astranis as full-time employees.
What you will do
- Design, simulate, implement, and measure passive and active RF sub-systems at microwave frequencies, including LNAs, power amplifiers, up/down converters, filters, and oscillators
- Integrate these systems into the spacecraft, working closely with the broader engineering team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, or related technical field
- Deep knowledge of basic RF concepts: transmission lines, impedance matching, filter design, and active RF circuits
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing RF hardware at microwave frequencies
- Experience with RF simulation tools (ADS or HFSS)
- Experience taking RF measurements with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and network analyzers
- Passion for hardware development in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Bonus skills
- Antennas and electromagnetics propagation
- Software Defined Radios (SDR)
- PCB design (Altium or similar)
- Python or other object-oriented programming
- Automating RF measurements
Compensation
