Senior Embedded Software Engineer
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer on the Network Software team, you will lead architecture and design of the flight software that commands and monitors Astranis spacecraft. You will develop, test, and deploy reliable systems for both commercial and US Government programs. This role includes mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with payload, communications, and telemetry teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop flight computer and Earth Station Hub software for satellites
- Develop firmware for satellite and Earth Station Hub control boards
- Write C++ code to interface with flight computers and custom hardware
- Generate requirements, design systems with continuous integration, and implement automated testing and code reviews
- Deliver complex projects through incremental development
- Collaborate across payload, communications, and telemetry teams
- Mentor junior engineers
Requirements
- 5-8+ years developing software for products in modern C++ or C
- Familiarity with software development methodologies and design patterns
- Experience with communication protocols (TCP/IP, I2C, SPI)
- Strong communication and written skills
- Experience building high availability and high reliability systems
Preferred Experience
- Python
- Embedded Linux or POSIX systems
- VxWorks, Linux, FreeRTOS, or QNX environments
- Building, testing, and shipping production software
- Safety critical development (FDA, FAA, Automotive)
- Board bringup and hardware-software debugging and integration
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary: $180,000 to $235,000 USD. Package includes equity via stock options, company-subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance, 401(k) retirement planning, flexible PTO, and on-site catered meals.
