Team Lead, Avionics - Vehicle Electronics
As Team Lead for Avionics - Vehicle Electronics, you will build and lead a team of engineers owning the compute, networking, and power distribution systems within our spacecraft. You will push the boundary of what is possible in geosynchronous spacecraft design and enable performance not yet realized.
Your responsibilities
- Directly manage and grow a team of junior and senior electrical engineers
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define spacecraft compute, networking, and power distribution requirements and architectures
- Oversee the design, build, and implementation of in-house hardware and systems
- Manage detailed schedules to keep hardware development in sync with program milestones
- Drive hardware design, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, board bring-up, and debugging
- Own technical relationships with third-party component suppliers to ensure robust and performant solutions
- Support production and mission operations teams on hardware build and in-flight use
- Lead recruiting, interviewing, and hiring for the rapidly-growing avionics team
Required qualifications
- B.S. or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar technical degree
- 5+ years professional experience with fast-paced product design cycles
- 5+ years board-level experience designing electronics hardware from concept through production
- Hands-on ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage engineering teams and communicate clearly across disciplines
- Strong analog and mixed-signal circuit design skills
- US Citizenship or Green Card
Bonus qualifications
- 5+ years experience designing signal conditioning, sensors, electro-mechanical actuators, power switches, or embedded computers
- Experience with FPGAs, microcontrollers, and communication schemes (RS-485, SPI, Ethernet, I2C)
- Strong understanding of C, C++, or Python
- Radiation effects knowledge
- Environmental test experience
Compensation
Base salary: $160,000 to $210,000 USD. Compensation also includes equity (incentive stock options), company-subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance, 401(k) retirement planning, flexible PTO, and on-site catered meals.
