The Role

As part of the Spacecraft Integration & Test team, you will be a hands-on, highly adaptable engineer supporting spacecraft development, integration, and testing across multiple programs and technical areas. This role is intentionally broad. Rather than being dedicated to a single subsystem or test activity, you will help address the highest-priority technical needs across the integration and test organization. Depending on program needs, this may include supporting FlatSat activities, subsystem testing, spacecraft integration, system-level testing, test infrastructure, troubleshooting, or resolving issues discovered during testing.

The ideal candidate is a technically capable generalist who can quickly understand unfamiliar hardware and software, methodically troubleshoot problems, communicate clearly, and shift priorities as program needs change. You should be comfortable working independently, asking the right questions, and driving issues toward resolution across electrical, software, mechanical, and systems boundaries.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Support spacecraft integration and test activities across development, production, and flight programs.
• Provide hands-on support for FlatSat, subsystem, spacecraft integration, and system-level testing.
• Execute and support system-level test campaigns, including test setup, procedure execution, data collection, troubleshooting, and results documentation.
• Assemble, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software test setups.
• Diagnose problems across hardware, software, test equipment, schematics, interfaces, and procedures.
• Work through unexpected test failures and anomalies to identify root causes and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interface documentation, software logs, and test procedures.
• Support remote team members with hardware setup, configuration, debugging, and test execution.
• Coordinate with systems, electrical, software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to resolve issues.
• Clearly communicate technical issues, required actions, status, risks, and blockers to the broader team.
• Identify when additional expertise is needed and effectively coordinate with the appropriate engineering teams.
• Develop and improve test procedures, troubleshooting processes, documentation, and test infrastructure.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and test infrastructure in an organized, calibrated, and operational state.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of automated test systems and software tools.
• Support investigations and corrective actions for problems discovered during integration and testing.
• Adapt priorities and responsibilities as program schedules and technical needs change.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Computer Engineering), Physics, Math, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
• 3-7 years of relevant engineering, integration, test, or technical experience.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex hardware and/or software systems.
• Ability to independently investigate technical problems, develop a path to resolution, and drive issues to closure.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation such as electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interface control documents, software logs, and test procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical issues and required actions.
• Comfortable working hands-on with hardware, test equipment, and laboratory systems.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and support multiple programs or technical areas as needed.
• Experience using Linux or willingness to work extensively in a Linux environment.
• Basic to intermediate scripting experience in Python, Bash, or a similar language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with spacecraft integration, system testing, FlatSat, avionics, embedded systems, or other complex hardware systems.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, digital interfaces, communications buses, sensors, or embedded hardware.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers, or other laboratory equipment.
• Experience developing or maintaining automated test systems.
• Experience with Python-based test automation or data analysis.
• Familiarity with Git and software version control.
• Experience diagnosing issues that cross hardware/software boundaries.
• Experience with serial communications or other hardware interfaces such as UART, RS-232, RS-485, CAN, Ethernet, SpaceWire, or similar.
• Experience with spacecraft environmental testing such as thermal, TVAC, vibration, or functional testing.
• Experience with configuration management, test documentation, and anomaly tracking.
• Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting remote engineering teams.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching may be required.
