About the role
You will design, test, and integrate electrical power storage systems for Axiom's commercial human spaceflight modules. This work covers batteries, voltage conversion, charging and discharging controls, and fault protection systems.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to space power system-level requirements
- Design electrical power storage hardware including batteries, voltage conversion, conditioning, charge/discharge control, and fault protection
- Create integration and test plans for electrical power storage equipment
- Build test systems to verify and validate electrical power storage equipment
- Contribute to interface control documents between electrical power distribution and other spacecraft subsystems
- Select components and systems with suppliers; evaluate supplier issues and recovery strategies
- Support design, manufacturing, test, and operations milestone reviews
- Communicate project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 7 or more years of experience in power storage system design, integration, and test
- Experience with test equipment: oscilloscopes, multi-meters, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers
- Track record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Proven ability to deliver high quality results under tight deadlines
Requirements
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
- U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency required
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet critical project milestones
Work environment
Office environment in Houston, with some inside or outside work depending on task. Sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time); occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
