EPS Integration and Planning Engineer Senior (Level III) Verified today
Overview
Axiom Space is building Axiom Station, the successor to the International Space Station, and pioneering commercial human spaceflight. You will join a mission-driven team working on next-generation orbital settlement infrastructure.
The Role
You will work as an EPS Integration and Planning Engineer alongside the senior integration engineer. Your core work is maintaining the Electrical Power System portion of the Integrated Master Schedule in Microsoft Project every day, tracking progress, forecast dates, logic corrections, and milestone alignment on a program building real flight hardware.
The Axiom Station power architecture is a regulated 120 V dual bus system: solar array regulation, isolated conversion, high voltage energy storage with charge and discharge regulation, secondary conversion to 120 V and 28 V, and protected load distribution across module boundaries and berthing interfaces. You will sit at the point where every subsystem, every supplier, and every schedule commitment must align.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the EPS Integrated Master Schedule in Microsoft Project: progress updates, forecast dates, logic corrections, resource and milestone alignment, and gate traceability
- Produce recurring schedule and status products: variance against baseline, milestone and deliverable views, critical path summaries, and supporting data
- Maintain program registers: actions, open items, review item dispositions, requests for action, interface issues, and risks, with owners, due dates, and closure evidence
- Track long-lead procurement, supplier deliverable dates, and test equipment deliveries against need dates; escalate when dates move
- Support interface control document development and review: data collection, consistency checking of budgets and interface values, and conflict identification
- Track facilities and test infrastructure readiness: laboratory space allocation, readiness checklists for power, cooling, data acquisition, safety, and test schedule conflicts
- Support supplier coordination: meeting logistics and minutes, deliverable and action tracking, supplier data intake and routing, and specification compliance checks
- Support certification and review package assembly: document collection, format and completeness checks, requirements traceability, and configuration control
- Prepare integration and schedule status material for internal gates and SRR, PDR, CDR, Test Readiness Review, and Manufacturing Readiness Review
- Grow into ownership of a schedule area, interface set, and coordination thread with mentorship
- Communicate progress, status, and issues honestly and early
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
- 5 or more years of relevant experience (Level III); equivalent combination of education and experience considered
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Project: task logic, dependencies, baselines, and progress status
- Interest in planning and schedule work as engineering work; understanding why the network is built the way it is
- Working knowledge of electrical power system fundamentals sufficient to follow technical discussion and spot disagreement between documents
- Strong organization and follow-through; measured by whether open items close
- Clear technical writing: meeting minutes, status material, and review packages that others can act on
- Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to ask questions early rather than deliver wrong answers late
- Comfort in ambiguous, fast-moving environment where answers are not yet written down
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or project experience in spacecraft, aerospace, defense, or high reliability programs
- Exposure to Primavera P6, earned value reporting, or program planning and control practice
- Exposure to interface control documents, requirements management tools (Jama, DOORS), or configuration management
- Exposure to laboratory or test operations: equipment procurement, facility readiness, or test scheduling
- Familiarity with space program standards: SSP 30237, SSP 50005, SSP 50094, or NASA-STD-3001
- Engineer in Training certification, Certified Associate in Project Management, or progress toward professional certification
Work Environment
Generally an office environment; may involve inside or outside work depending on task. Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs (5% of the time). Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.
Export Control
This position may require access to export controlled technical data subject to NASA regulations, ITAR, or EAR. Final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment.
