About Axiom Space
Axiom Space is building Axiom Station, the next-generation commercial orbital settlement that will succeed the International Space Station. We develop commercial human spaceflight services and advanced spacesuits for lunar exploration and beyond.
The Role
As Station Chief Systems Engineer, you will lead the complete systems engineering implementation for Axiom Station. You own the full lifecycle from concept through disposal, driving technical rigor and execution discipline across complex, integrated systems.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end leadership of systems engineering implementation including concept definition, requirements management, architecture and design, integration, and verification and validation
- Lead Axiom Station concept definition, architecture definition, functional analyses, and product breakdown structures
- Develop, validate, and manage overall technical requirements at system and subsystem levels
- Lead external and internal integration, interface definition, control, and risk reduction
- Plan, coordinate, and close verification and validation of all station requirements
- Define and maintain integrated system and subsystem performance assessments
- Define and oversee variance, waiver, configuration, data, and risk management processes
- Communicate project progress, status, and issues to stakeholders and leadership
- Implement and maintain agile project management methodologies throughout the lifecycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related engineering discipline (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 15+ years of systems engineering experience across full lifecycle activities: concepts, requirements, design support, integration, verification and validation
- Experience in spaceflight programs with background in space payload, spacecraft, or space vehicle development; NASA human spaceflight program experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail with ability to understand the bigger picture of complex projects
- Excellent writing and presentation skills; experience communicating with senior decision-makers and technical audiences
- Track record of execution in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Proactive problem-solving with demonstrated organisational skills to meet tight deadlines with high-quality results
- INCOSE CSEP certification preferred
- Start-up experience a plus

Work Environment
Primarily office-based in Houston. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends to meet critical project milestones. Work involves sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs (5% of time).
Export Control Requirement
This position may require access to export-controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, ITAR, or EAR. Final candidates may be required to undergo export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment.
