Systems Test Engineer (levels III - IV) Verified today
About the Role
You will own the full lifecycle of electromechanical ground support equipment (GSE) to support system-level tests for Extra-vehicular Activities (EVA). This position is onsite at our Houston Hercules facility and reports to the EVA Test and Verification IPT Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage GSE development: requirements, design concepts, procurement, fabrication, checkout, and integration with test setup
- Track GSE through development milestones: Kickoff, PDR, CDR, and TRR
- Develop GSE documentation including Design Operation and Maintenance Manual (DOMM), Hazard Analysis (HA), Bill of Materials (BOM), mechanical and electrical schematics
- Coordinate with external test facilities and conduct test readiness reviews (TRR) with internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare technical presentations for peers, management, and external customers and partners
- Travel as needed for test events (less than 20%)
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering, or related discipline (ABET-accredited preferred)
- Experience designing pressure systems, electrical systems, and/or mechanical systems
- Experience in hardware test planning, coordination, and execution
- Experience in test GSE development planning, coordination, and build
- Experience with NASA human spaceflight programs desired, including spacecraft, spacesuit, and space vehicle testing
- Strong attention to detail with ability to see the bigger picture of complex projects
- Ability to identify gaps and develop solutions quickly and efficiently
- Experience in start-up organizations a plus
Level III: 4-9 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Level IV: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering preferred; 7-12 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Environment
Generally office-based, but may involve indoor or outdoor work depending on the task. May require sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time). Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.
Export Control
This position may require access to export-controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment.
