Avionics Electrical Harness Standards Engineer III (Fixed Term) Verified today
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for coordinating and acting as a focal point for the electrical component definition, selection, validation and qualification for electrical harnesses across various spaceflight systems. This is a hands-on position involving all aspects of engineering, design, fabrication, installation and test.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve engineering drawings based on manufacturability and adherence to internal and industry standards
- Coordinate selection of electrical harness assembly components
- Coordinate qualification of all harness assembly components
- Support and coordinate feedback from harness manufacturing suppliers and installation sites
- Support and coordinate harness testing activities
- Create and maintain component records in JARVID database and Windchill standard part library
- Provide impact assessments for change incorporation issues
- Support design configuration development and trade studies
- Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
- Maintain and report on activity schedule and technical status
- Identify opportunities for cost and schedule savings
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate engineering field
- 7+ years of experience working with Electrical Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industry
- 5+ years of experience as a Liaison Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Test Engineer
- Experience with high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing
- 5+ years of experience in harness fabrication and installation processes
- Familiarity with applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications
- IPC/WHMA-A-620A certification
- 5+ years of experience performing component qualification testing
- Experience with Creo and Windchill and Routed System Designer (RSD)
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience in creating or directing testing campaigns
Compensation
Base pay range for Washington applicants: $130,706.00 to $182,987.70. Colorado applicants: $119,814.00 to $167,738.55. Other site ranges may differ.
