The Role
As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for coordinating and acting as a focal point for the electrical component definition, selection, validation, and qualification for electrical harnesses across various spaceflight systems. This is a hands-on position that will involve you in all aspects of engineering, design, fabrication, installation and test. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve engineering drawings based on manufacturability and adherence to internal and industry standards
- Coordinate selection of electrical harness assembly components
- Coordinate qualification of all electrical harness assembly components
- Support and coordinate feedback from harness manufacturing suppliers and installation sites
- Support and coordinate harness testing activities
- Coordinate creation and maintenance of components in JARVID database and Windchill standard part library
- Support change incorporation by providing impact assessments
- Support design configuration development and trade studies
- Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
- Maintain and report on activity schedule and technical status
- Identify opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate engineering field
- 7+ years of experience working with electrical wire harnesses for the aerospace industry
- 5+ years of experience as a Liaison Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Test Engineer
- Experience with high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing
- 5+ years of experience in harness fabrication and installation processes
- Familiarity with harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A and NASA-STD-8739.4
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications
- IPC/WHMA-A-620A certification
- 5+ years of experience performing component qualification testing
- Experience with Creo, Windchill, and Routed System Designer (RSD)
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience creating or directing testing campaigns
Compensation
Base pay range varies by location. Washington applicants: $130,706.00 to $182,987.70. Colorado applicants: $119,814.00 to $167,738.55. Other site ranges may differ.
