Role Overview

Blue Origin is seeking early career embedded software engineers to join two pathways: Direct Hire or a one-year New Graduate Rotation Program. In the Rotation Program, you'll complete three four-month rotations across teams including New Glenn, Blue Engines, Lunar Permanence, Blue National Security, Advanced Concepts, and Operations, then transition to a permanent team. Direct Hire positions place you immediately with an engineering team matched to your skills and business needs.

What You Will Do

• Design, build, and maintain software applications and components for spacecraft systems
• Conduct requirement analysis, code development, testing, documentation, and system integration
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to build verification plans, frameworks, tools, and tests for safety-critical, real-time embedded software
• Review and update software requirements and designs for verifiability
• Write code to verify software for embedded environments in C, C++, and Python
• Design adversarial, requirements-based automated tests
• Develop tools and infrastructure to support efficient build, debugging, and deployment

Required Qualifications

• BS Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, or related field, earned within the last year
• Able to start by Fall 2027
• Software development skills in C/C++, Python, or C#/Java
• Problem-solving and debugging skills in C/C++
• Experience with formalized verification activities (test cases, procedures, reports)
• Collaborative interactions with software development teams while maintaining objectivity and independence
• Relevant internship, co-op, or hands-on experience demonstrating technical skills and leadership qualities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
• Flexible and adaptable mindset with self-driven approach to seeking requirements

Desired Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• Experience with build, test, and deployment automation
• Understanding of computer networking systems and protocols
• Experience with distributed applications and safety-critical software development
• Experience with Qt framework/QML
• DevOps and Agile/Scrum experience
• Working knowledge of configuration management and source code management systems

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $101,405.00 - $141,966.30 (CO); $110,623.00 - $154,871.85 (WA). Other site ranges may differ.
