About This Role

You will manage and lead a team of subject matter experts developing electrical hardware equipment for lunar landers. As a lead technical contributor, you will provide technical support to your product team, exemplify best practices, and maintain superior work ethic and balanced technical judgment.

You will cultivate a rightsized workforce, oversee performance and promotions, shepherd team members' careers through coaching and technical development, benchmark work standards with other Blue Origin units and industry trends, and ensure the team's work products meet domain quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and own upgraded analog and digital avionic designs for control of fluids, engine systems, and on-board lunar hardware
  • Own the architecture of hardware and firmware/microprocessor designs, supporting the team developing rugged electronic hardware assemblies across the product life cycle: concept, requirements definition, design, analysis, prototyping, schematic capture, layout, design review, test/verification, and release to production
  • Lead architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, specification, device selection, and product roadmap direction
  • Lead design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies
  • Participate in program level technology development, mission assurance, safety initiatives, and avionics development process improvements
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management
  • Lead by example and create long-term strategic plans to positively influence each team member toward Blue Origin's vision
  • Mentor and offer leadership and development opportunities
  • Grow people into their full potential through inspiration and motivation
  • Forge a vision of a better future, strategize on Blue Origin's direction, and motivate your team through training, planning, directing, delegating, and monitoring success
  • Supply people, processes, and tools needed to meet project and program demands. Negotiate Statements of Work with product managers
  • Manage direct reports' professional development including hiring, performance reviews, compensation and promotion management, and one-on-one development conversations
  • Organize and equip the team, ensuring staff are trained
  • Embody, promote, and coach Blue Origin leadership principles and Lunar Permanence team culture

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, people, or functional groups with responsibility for coaching others
  • 5+ years of experience in at least one specialty area applicable to space flight
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Understanding of principles, concepts, and methods of hardware engineering
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
  • Prior responsibility for career management of employees

Compensation and Location

Base Pay Range by location:

  • CA: $150,743.00 - $211,039.50
  • CO: $138,181.00 - $193,453.05
  • WA: $150,743.00 - $211,039.50

Employment Requirements
