Role Overview
You will manage and lead a team of subject matter experts developing electrical hardware for Blue Moon lunar landers. As a lead technical contributor, you will provide technical support to your product team and exemplify best practices, balanced technical judgment, and superior work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and own upgraded analog and digital avionic designs that provide control of fluids and engine systems and on-board lunar hardware.
- Own the architecture of hardware and firmware/microprocessor designs, supporting the team across the entire product life cycle: concept, requirements, design, analysis, prototyping, schematic capture, layout, design review, test and verification, and production release.
- Lead architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, specification, device selection, and product roadmap direction.
- Lead design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
- Participate in program-level technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives, and avionics development process improvements.
- Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
- Cultivate a rightsized workforce; oversee performance, merits, and promotions; coach team members through career development; benchmark work standards and tools against other Blue Origin business units and industry trends; ensure team work products meet domain quality standards.
- Manage direct reports' professional development including hiring, performance reviews, compensation and promotion management, and routine development conversations.
- Organize and equip the team, ensuring staff are trained and equipped with necessary processes and tools.
- Embody, promote, and coach Blue Origin leadership principles and Lunar Permanence team culture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
- 5+ years of experience in at least one specialty area applicable to space flight
- Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, people, or functional groups with responsibility for coaching others
- Understanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of hardware engineering
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced, dynamic environments while providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems

- Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
- Prior responsibility for career management of employees
Compensation
Base pay range varies by location:
- CA: $150,743.00 - $211,039.50
- CO: $138,181.00 - $193,453.05
- WA: $150,743.00 - $211,039.50
