Avionics Harnessing Technician | All Shifts All Levels Verified today
You will participate in the assembly and verification of space flight components on Blue Origin spacecraft. As part of a small team, you will work on a newly designed space tug through fabrication and delivery. This hands-on position involves assembling and fabricating wire harnesses, routing designs from models and blueprints, and identifying methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize the build sequence.
Responsibilities
- Build a variety of different harnesses and rapidly shift focus from project to project.
- Assist with new designs, working directly with engineering to determine standard processes and vet new designs for improvement opportunities prior to production.
- Provide feedback on new assemblies, identifying improvements to existing and outdated designs.
- Serve internal and external customers across multiple systems and platforms.
- Contribute to 5S initiatives and process improvement projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 8 years' experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.
- Familiarity with fabricating, inspecting, and repairing wire harness assemblies.
- Experience with standard harnessing tools, wire stripping, crimping, and splicing using both manual and automated processes.
- Experience with testing and troubleshooting tools such as digital multi-meter, milli-ohm meter, insulation tester, or Hi-Pot test equipment.
- Familiarity with torquing procedures, sizing fasteners, and harness assembly/disassembly.
- Experience with digital work order-based systems and reading electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and dimensional layout drawings.
- Ability to train others and present metrics to leadership.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Attention to detail and passion for space.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years' experience in launch vehicle harness systems, vehicle integration, testing and processing.
- Experience with all types of solder termination and splicing.
- Experience with on-vehicle repairs and working with different levels of cleanliness (Gross, Visual, or clean room).
- Experience working in R&D within space, tech, or aviation.
- Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
- IPC 620/620 Space Addendum certifications as well as IPC J-STD certifications (past or present).
