Blue Origin is developing TeraWave, a satellite communications network delivering symmetrical data speeds up to 6 Tbps. This multi-orbit constellation uses optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO).
The Role
As part of the Spacecraft Bus Avionics team, you will be responsible for building test equipment and harnesses supporting avionics test campaigns. You will work with design engineers to design, develop, and verify high-performance avionics hardware for space flight vehicles.
What You Will Do
- Assemble flight-grade avionics test equipment
- Build wire harness and cable assemblies
- Integrate avionics and ground support hardware into electronics testbeds
- Track lab inventory and calibration records
- Provide feedback on new assemblies and identify improvements to existing designs
- Contribute to lab 5S initiatives and process improvement projects
- Serve internal and external customers across multiple systems and platforms
What You Need
Minimum Qualifications:
- Novice understanding of basic electronics theory: voltage, resistance, current
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and written assembly procedures
- 2+ years of experience in assembly of avionics equipment, medical devices, or other similar high precision assemblies
- Proficient in use of basic electronic lab test equipment such as power supplies and handheld multimeters
- Ability to use standard mechanical tools, precision measuring devices, and fabrication shop equipment
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current or expired certifications in PCBA inspection (IPC-A-610), harness assembly (IPC/WHMA-A-620), soldering (J-STD-001), PCBA rework (IPC-7711/7721)
- Experience handling and installing ESD sensitive components
- Experience with hipot and/or Cirris harness testers
- Experience in staking and conformal coating
- Experience with potting
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word)
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and desire for continuous improvement
- Experience working in R&D within space, aviation, automotive, or medical fields
Position Details
This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week with flexible schedule options and additional weekdays/overtime as requested. Interviews will include a technical assessment.
Base Pay Range (WA applicants): $130,706.00 - $182,987.70
Other site ranges may differ.
