Role
Join the Lunar Permanence business unit as an Avionics Systems Integration Engineer within the Avionics team on the Crewed Lander. You will focus on integration of one or more spacecraft subsystems, leading cross-functional trade studies, running integrated analyses, and defining interfaces that impact spacecraft design and integration. You will work directly with NASA and National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program, playing a key role in developing the lunar transportation system that returns humans to the Moon.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate between multiple stakeholders with conflicting interests to optimize spacecraft design
- Contribute to or lead avionics architecture studies, concept development, verification planning, vehicle integration, and operations support
- Manage avionics requirements development, definition, and maturity
- Develop and manage avionics physical, logical, and network configuration interface control documents (ICDs)
- Develop and maintain data and communication budgets
- Develop and maintain integrated electrical architecture diagrams
- Coordinate constraints and conflicting requirements across multiple disciplines
- Contribute to or lead change management ensuring proper change impact assessment and coordination of design changes across subsystems
- Coordinate sensor selection and end-to-end sensor error analysis
- Identify, assess, and manage program risks (technical, schedule, cost, integration)
- Develop tools for maintaining vehicle electrical configuration and definition
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical subject area
- 8+ years relevant experience in full life cycle development of avionics systems, including requirements, design, integration, test, and operations
- Deep experience integrating spacecraft or high criticality aerospace subsystems (Avionics, Software, Structures, GNC, power system, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to define and manage communication protocols
- Functional understanding of common electrical digital and analog interfaces (Serial Bus Communications, Video, Audio, Ethernet, Analog Sensors, etc.)
- Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
- Strong ability to analyze complex systems and deliver results-oriented solutions
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

Desired Qualifications
- M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Electrical, or related technical subject area
- Experience with human-rated spacecraft
- Experience with full spacecraft design life cycle
- Experience with systems safety design practices
- Experience with MBSE methods and tools including SysML
- Experience with electrical architecture diagramming practices and tools including MS Visio
- Experience with software tools such as SINDA/FLUINT, MATLAB/Simulink, Creo, Jama, Cameo, Confluence, and JIRA
- VB Script or Python experience (for tool development)
Compensation
Base pay range varies by location: CA $130,706 - $182,987.70; CO $119,814 - $167,738.55; WA $130,706 - $182,987.70. Other site ranges may differ.
