Role

As a Combustion Devices Propulsion Engineer II, you will design and develop combustion devices (injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, igniters, and related components) for various rocket engines and spaceflight systems within Blue Origin's Engines business unit.

You will own a combustion device's complete product lifecycle from initial requirements through flight qualification, including:

  • Design and development
  • Manufacturing support
  • Test support and performing test data reviews
  • Processing non-conforming hardware
  • Writing technical reports

You will report directly to a Combustion Devices Manager within the Engines business unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. degree in engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or physics desired)
  • 2+ years of industry experience in a related field
  • Familiarity with a variety of combustion devices
  • Computer aided design (CAD) experience
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to perform structural hand calculations and perform basic/iterative FEA
  • Familiarity with data analysis and data processing

You will need a background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics to be successful.

Desired Qualifications

  • M.S. in engineering discipline or higher
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10
  • Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluids, thermodynamics, and combustion analysis
  • Strong knowledge of combustion devices design process and hardware fabrication techniques
  • Experience leveraging AI tools in a determinate, validated manner to increase productivity

Compensation

Base pay range for WA applicants: $99,201.00 - $138,880.35. Other site ranges may differ.

Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Background checks are required for all positions (Blue's Standard Background Check). Certain job profiles may require additional background checks including Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) if the role requires access to military installations.
