About the role
As part of Honeybee Robotics' Colorado team, you will participate in the development, design, test, and manufacturing of Motion Control products. Working with other engineering disciplines, you will develop control algorithms, simulations, and assist with system verification of hardware.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop closed-loop control systems and algorithms incorporating motors, sensors, structures and drive electronics
- Develop and validate dynamic models and simulations of motion control systems in MATLAB/Simulink
- Correlate model simulation with real world test results
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-level performance issues during development, integration, and test
- Present technical content to customers and internal stakeholders
- Generate technical documentation, including design reviews, test plans, and reports
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited technical college or university and 5+ years of relevant work experience
- In-depth understanding of motors, gearing, feedback and commutation sensors, and motion control methodologies
- Demonstrated experience building and validating dynamic models and simulations of motion control systems in MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with control system design techniques (e.g., PID tuning, state-space control, frequency-domain analysis)
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Control Systems or Mechatronics Engineering
- Experience designing motion control and electromechanical systems for space environments
- Experience modeling motor dynamics, bearings, and other system parameters to correlate model simulations with test data
- Familiarity with embedded control implementation (e.g., C/C++, real-time operating systems)
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test setups
