About the role
You will develop, execute, and integrate electrical and electromechanical components for crew interface hardware and habitability systems on the Blue Moon lunar lander program. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will design mission hardware from concept through qualification and flight, guiding electrical architecture to ensure robust, simple, and integrated solutions.
This role demands both systems-level thinking and hands-on execution. You will define electrical interfaces and control circuits, design circuit card assemblies, and own electrical components through build, test, and verification.
Responsibilities
- Develop avionics hardware (boards and integrated assemblies) with full understanding of product life-cycle from concept and requirements definition through design, prototyping, verification, and release to production.
- Design analog and digital boards interfacing with avionics systems including microcontrollers, sensors, electromechanical actuators, pumps, motors, and valves; including analysis, schematic capture, layout, design review, test and verification.
- Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines in integrated product teams throughout design, build, test, and verification of crew systems products.
- Support risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
Minimum qualifications
- B.S. in electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years in high-reliability electronics (spacecraft, launch, aviation, defense or similar), including board- and/or box-level design through integration and test.
- Demonstrated ability to produce release-quality artifacts under configuration control (schematics, bills of materials, drawings, test procedures and reports).
- Hands-on lab bring-up and debug skills with oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzer, power supplies, load emulation, and failure isolation and re-test.
- Proficiency with ECAD and analysis tools (e.g. Altium, Mentor, KiCad, SPICE), signal analysis, grounding schemes, and EMC-aware design fundamentals.
- Strong cross-functional communication with systems, mechanical, software, and mission assurance/quality teams.
Preferred qualifications
- M.S. in electrical engineering or related field with 7+ years of experience.
- Experience with electromechanical and fluid component control and integration.
- Experience designing human machine interfaces.
- Experience supporting TVAC, vibe, shock, EMI and EMC testing with troubleshooting and closure documentation.
- Experience with harness design and assembly process considerations for spacecraft.
- Familiarity with spacecraft command and data handling systems and protocols.
- Experience with parts derating, traceability (certificate of conformance/certificate of quality), and basic radiation considerations (TID/SEE) appropriate to mission class.
Compensation and location
Base pay range for Washington applicants: $121,023.00 to $169,432.20 annually. Other site ranges may differ.
