Day of Launch Systems Engineer (TS/SCI Required) - Senior Verified today

About the role

You will serve as the primary integrator between the spacecraft team, launch vehicle provider, Space Launch Delta 45, and Space Force Mission Assurance for the Blue Ring space vehicle. You will own and execute all day-of-launch activities, ensuring every stakeholder is aligned, every contingency is planned for, and every countdown runs with precision.

This role demands a systems thinker who can operate effectively under pressure, coordinate anomaly responses in real time, and drive launch readiness from rehearsal through execution while maintaining the rigor and traceability that NSSL mission standards require.

What you will do

• Lead planning and execution of mission rehearsals (Integrated Crew Exercises, Mission Dress Rehearsals, Tabletops) to ensure day-of-launch readiness
• Develop technical products for spacecraft standalone use and coordinate with the broad mission team for integrated products, countdown timelines, and rehearsal timelines
• Interface with launch stakeholders (Space Vehicle Contractor, Processing facility, Space Launch Delta 45, Launch Vehicle, and Space Force Mission Assurance) to ensure launch requirements are met
• Prepare, coordinate, and manage launch-site control rooms, seating charts, resources, and timelines
• Write all launch scripts for all personnel on console, including internal team members and the customer
• Manage the launch countdown sequence in coordination with the spacecraft team and launch vehicle provider
• Manage and integrate voice, data, timing, and video requirements for all day-of-launch personnel on console
• Lead the Rehearsal Anomaly Team, including creation of green cards for launch contingency planning
• Execute individual exercises from an on-console position, starting, guiding, ending, and advising as necessary
• Prepare the spacecraft team for day of launch per NSSL standards
• Develop, validate, integrate, and verify execution of Program Requirements Documents
• Coordinate contingency responses in the event of anomalies
• Create the hardware recovery plan in the event of a launch anomaly
• Work with payload providers to determine launch commit criteria

Requirements

• B.S. or equivalent experience in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or a relevant technical field
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in systems engineering principles and execution
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills and organizational skills
• Active TS/SCI clearance required
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred qualifications

• M.S. degree in a relevant technical field
• 15 years of related experience
• Experience running mission rehearsals and ICEs
• Experience working with Space Launch Delta 45 and Space Force to support launch activities

Compensation and location

Base pay range: CO applicants $133,500 to $186,898.95; WA applicants $145,188 to $203,263.20. Other site ranges may differ.

Up to 25% travel may be required for customer meetings, integration activities, and launch support. Relocation assistance may be available.
