Blue Origin is seeking an EGSE Electrical Engineer to join the AI&T team on the TeraWave program. You will design and verify EGSE electrical hardware, develop and maintain electrical schematics and interface control documents, and support the transition of EGSE hardware designs to the production line.
About TeraWave
TeraWave is a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. The multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Design EGSE electrical hardware components: interface boards, cable harnesses, breakout assemblies, and signal conditioning circuits.
- Develop and maintain EGSE electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, and interface control documents (ICDs).
- Verify signal integrity, power distribution, and grounding/shielding compliance of EGSE hardware; support acceptance testing.
- Provide DFM and DFT inputs on EGSE hardware: test point access, connector accessibility, and mate/demate cycle life.
- Support EMI/EMC requirements compliance review and EGSE EMI characterization.
- Support PCB layout and cable harness design reviews before release to fabrication.
- Support transition of EGSE electrical designs to production line ground support equipment.
- Interface with VTB Electrical Integration and Electrical Test teams on hardware interface requirements.
- Maintain EGSE electrical documentation and BOM accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical hardware design, schematic capture, or GSE/test equipment development in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics.
- Experience with schematic capture tools and EDA software (Altium, Zuken, Cadence, or equivalent).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and connector pinouts.
- Familiarity with signal integrity, grounding, and shielding principles for mixed-signal electronics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear electrical design documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing GSE or test equipment for spacecraft, launch vehicle, or defense electronics programs.
- Background with PCB layout, mixed-signal circuit design, or high-speed digital interfaces.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC design requirements and compliance processes (MIL-STD-461 or equivalent).
- Experience with aerospace connector systems (MIL-DTL-38999, D-Sub, or similar).
- Background with DFM/DFT feedback in a formal design review process.
- Experience using PDM/PLM systems for design release (Windchill or equivalent).
Compensation
Base Pay Range varies by location:
Colorado applicants: $119,814.00 - $167,738.55
Washington applicants: $130,706.00 - $182,987.70
Other site ranges may differ.
