About the Role
This position is part of Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit, developing sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface via the Blue Moon lander program.
You will design and develop harnesses to support the Lunar Lander Vehicle Test Bed (VTB), Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test beds, and component testers in a fast-paced environment supporting vehicle system-level testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop engineering documentation including system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), and wiring interconnect diagrams (WID)
- Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high-speed data signal applications
- Select harness components, hardware, connectors, backshells, cable, and wire
- Apply EMI/RFI principles and harness shielding techniques
- Create 3D routed harness data files using 3D CAD software
- Design and integrate harness support brackets with configuration development and trade studies
- Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
- Support harness assembly development across the entire product lifecycle from concept through production release
- Oversee HIL test bed design and build with focus on lab infrastructure including racks and harnesses
- Integrate and install electrical harnesses on test systems
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 2+ years experience designing wire harnesses
- 2+ years experience creating schematics and interconnect diagrams (SID, BID, WID)
- Experience managing harness drawings in configuration management cycles
- Understanding and application of wire derating analysis
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620A harness standards
- Strong electrical and mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software, preferably CREO or Zuken
- Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes
- U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card), or lawfully admitted as refugee or asylee
Desired Qualifications
- Experience designing and integrating electrical harnesses for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or aircraft
- Experience with ZUKEN E3 software
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range for WA applicants: $107,136 to $149,990.40 annually. Other site ranges may differ.
