Electrical Power System Engineer III - Lunar Permanence Verified today
About the Role
You will be a mid-career engineer within the vehicle Electrical Power Subsystem team, responsible for compute, network, and input/output functions of a lunar spacecraft. This position combines subsystem design with hands-on hardware work in development and flight labs, plus integration and test support for the flight vehicle.
What You Will Own
- Technical authority for physical and functional components of electrical power subsystem hardware at assembly level, including solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution and regulation equipment
- Requirements development and management for avionics subsystems, with traceability and verification planning using industry-standard tools
- Development and execution of verification and validation work in laboratory and production environments
- Integration of interfaces with GNC, command and data handling, propulsion, and mechanical subsystems
- Coordination with internal and external component developers on interface definitions and schedule alignment
- Long-lead hardware identification and procurement planning
- Risk analyses including failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis
- Engineering judgment to ensure efficient, effective product design, manufacture, procurement, testing, qualification, and delivery
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related Engineering field
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in relevant areas of engineering operations
- Experience with analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit analysis, simulation, design, test, troubleshooting, signal integrity, power, and grounding and general board layout principles
- Experience with design and test of major electrical power system components, such as photovoltaics, batteries, and power distribution design
- Familiarity with amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, power supplies, and analog circuits
- Avionics hardware component design and assembly experience
- Avionics hardware and software integration experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. or PhD in subject disciplines
- 8+ years of industry technical experience involving system formulation, research and development, and/or operations applied to spacecraft systems and environments
- Experience with human-rated spacecraft systems and safety-critical design processes for crewed missions
- Strong team leadership and people management skills
- Demonstrated experience designing high reliability safety-critical Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610 and DO-254
- Requirements management experience including aerospace standards
- Scripting and programming: TCL, Python, Linux shell, Windows batch scripting, C/C++
- Modeling and analysis tools: MATLAB/Simulink, HSPICE, HFSS
- Spacecraft avionics hardware environmental test experience including radiation, vibration, and thermal testing
- Hands-on test experience with power or avionics equipment, such as fault detection, isolation, and recovery testing
- Cross-organizational coordination experience working with multiple engineering teams and external organizations
- Ability to execute in a dynamic, fast-paced, driven work environment
Compensation and Location
Base pay range for WA applicants: $130,706.00 - $182,987.70. Other site ranges may differ.
Relocation provided. Travel expected up to 25% of the time.
