About this role
This position is part of Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. You will support the mission to return humans to the Moon and establish permanent human presence beyond Earth.
What you will do
- Lead a small team of early career engineers through entire electrical test campaigns
- Plan, develop and execute test procedures for flight hardware
- Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
- Perform root cause analysis, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing
- Develop, manage and maintain test support equipment
- Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
- Prepare status updates and communicate with the organization and direct customers
- Participate in test readiness reviews, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews
- Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
- Coordinate test crews, support equipment and configurations for testing
- Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
- Participate in assembly and test of development and flight hardware including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
Minimum qualifications
- BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical discipline
- 5 or more years experience in aerospace test campaigns with electrical test experience
- Ability to assign tasking, delegate workload and supervise a team of 2 to 5 engineers
- Experience working on dispersed rapid development teams, driving process development
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Basic understanding of design fundamentals including requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition and environmental considerations
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred) including drawing creation
- Basic proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including GNC, Comms, EPS/CPS, EMI/EMC and performance
- Experience participating in NASA technical reviews
- Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems, including troubleshooting analog and digital hardware with bench measurement equipment
- Understanding or experience with hazardous operations
- Experience with control actuators, deployable devices (doors, landing gear, sensors), hydraulic system components, separation systems or other mechanical systems
- Familiarity with sensors including linear variable differential transformers, resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, pressure transducers and resolvers
