About the Role

Join the Strata Common Platform team within Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE). You'll develop mission-critical embedded platform software (drivers, middleware, I/O) and tools for Blue Origin's entire fleet of space vehicles. Your work directly enables safe and reliable transport of people and payloads to orbit and beyond.

What You'll Do

  • Build platform software for embedded avionics systems, including device drivers, middleware, and applications for next-generation aerospace technology
  • Partner with hardware and systems engineers to shape software requirements and create seamless integration across multiple hardware platforms
  • Contribute to architecture and design discussions that influence the future of embedded systems
  • Drive innovation through performance optimization and implementation of scalable, portable software solutions
  • Conduct comprehensive testing, debugging, and performance analysis across varied hardware environments
  • Develop clear documentation including requirements, design specifications, and API references
  • Mentor colleagues through collaborative code reviews and constructive feedback
  • Integrate avionics platform software into a varied portfolio of Blue Origin products

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of embedded software development experience
  • Expert proficiency in C/C++ programming
  • Deep hands-on experience with real-time systems, multitasking, and synchronization in embedded environments
  • Experience with software loaders, device drivers, middleware (I/O, BIT), hardware abstraction, and low-level interfaces
  • Knowledge of multiple hardware architectures (ARM, x86) and RTOS/QNX/Yocto Linux embedded environments
  • Experience with CI/CD environments and tools such as Gitlab, Jira, Confluence
  • Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative teamwork experience
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to collaborative team culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with NASA Core Flight Software (cFE)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT)
  • Experience in safety-critical software development within aerospace, automotive, or similar industries

Compensation

Base pay range varies by location: CO applicants $123,714.00 - $173,199.60; WA applicants $134,961.00 - $188,945.40.
