About the Role

You will work with NASA and National Team Partners on the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. Your expertise in spacecraft structural analysis will deliver safe, reliable, ready-to-install hardware that meets requirements within allocated cost and schedule.

This position reports to the Design Section inside the Lunar Transportation business unit, where you will shape the future of Blue Origin's lunar infrastructure.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct analysis of load paths from conceptual design to drawing release and hardware creation
  • Analyze primary and secondary spacecraft structures
  • Integrate structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments
  • Develop, refine, validate, and correlate finite element models to test data
  • Perform strength checks and generate analysis reports
  • Generate test and verification plans and reports
  • Support configuration development and trade studies

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience (Level 2 Requirement)
  • Solid foundation in structural static and dynamic fundamentals
  • Ability to solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods: hand calculations, in-house tools, and commercial analytical tools
  • Experience in aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle, or automotive structures in areas including external loads, vibro-acoustic analysis, thermal loads, and analysis using Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct

Desired Qualifications

  • Vehicle load path definition and strength analysis
  • Analysis of metallic and composite structures (skin-stringer, fittings, sandwich panels)
  • Composite design and analysis in thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix, or ceramic matrix composites
  • Manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization, and allowables development
  • Experience testing materials, joints, components, and vehicles
  • Structural optimization using Optistruct, HyperSizer, Nastran Sol 200, Abaqus, or Adams
  • Experience with ProEngineer Wildfire 4, Creo Parametric, or greater
  • Human spaceflight experience
  • Composite experience

Compensation

Colorado applicants: $110,938.00 to $155,312.85
Washington applicants: $121,023.00 to $169,432.20
