About the Role

You will work on Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit, developing Blue Moon landers and lunar transportation infrastructure. You'll support the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program, working directly with NASA and National Team Partners.

As a Stress Analyst III in the Design Section, you'll apply your structural analysis expertise to deliver safe, reliable hardware that meets requirements within cost and schedule. You'll own the analysis of spacecraft structures from conceptual design through drawing release and hardware creation.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze load paths from conceptual design to drawing release and hardware creation
  • Analyze primary and secondary spacecraft structures
  • Integrate structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments
  • Develop, refine, validate, and correlate finite element models to tests
  • Perform strength checks and generate analysis reports
  • Generate test and verification plans and reports
  • Support configuration development and trade studies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering
  • 5+ years of experience (Level 2 Requirement)
  • Solid foundation in structural static and dynamic fundamentals
  • Ability to solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, commercial tools)
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or automotive in areas such as: external loads, vibro-acoustic analysis, thermal loads, and analysis using Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct

Desired Experience

  • Vehicle load path definition and strength analysis
  • Analysis of metallic and composite structures (skin-stringer, fittings, sandwich panels)
  • Composite design and analysis in thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix, or ceramic matrix composites
  • Manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization, and allowables development
  • Testing materials, joints, components, and vehicles
  • Structural optimization using Optistruct, HyperSizer, Nastran Sol 200, Abaqus, or Adams
  • ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater
  • Human spaceflight experience
