About this role
You will support the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle with a fully reusable first stage, designed to be human-capable. As a Fluid Systems Engineer II, you will design, manufacture, and install New Glenn hardware that is safe, reliable, and ready to integrate.
Responsibilities
- Lead the complete design cycle of fluid subsystems: conceptual design, thermo-fluid modeling, structural layout and analysis, integration, test and mission support
- Support production by triaging work stoppages, investigating root cause, determining corrective actions, and dispositioning non-conforming hardware
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define requirements, dependencies, and schedule needs for integrated fluid systems
- Lead team identification, decomposition, and estimation of work scope for full lifecycle fluids hardware development
- Manage project schedule, resources, and cost; present status, risks, variances and recovery plans to program management
- Continuously improve team processes and manage assignments to move quickly while meeting human spaceflight standards
- Perform procurement, integration support, and discrepancy resolution
- Oversee fluid component and subsystem testing: test planning, execution, data reduction, and analysis
- Create and modify drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Required qualifications
- B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (minimum)
- 3+ years of industry experience in detail design and development of aerospace or equivalent fluid systems, plus project management
- Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and fittings
- Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control for tubes, piping and machined components
- Working knowledge of materials and treatments
- Experience leading at least one multi-person development project, managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, cost, and communications
- Ability to work independently on rapid development programs
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired qualifications
- Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E and Pro/E Piping) and PDM (Windchill)
- Knowledge of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred)
- Knowledge of welding application and use
- Experience with high pressure, cryogenic systems, GN2, and Peroxide
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
Compensation
Base pay range for WA applicants: $99,201.00 to $138,880.35. Other site ranges may differ.
