About this role
This is an early career position for engineers graduating with a BS in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering by Summer 2027, ready to start Fall 2027. Blue Origin offers two employment pathways: Direct Hire placement with an engineering team, or a New Graduate Rotation Program (one year, three four-month rotations across business units including New Glenn, Blue Engines, Lunar Permanence, Blue National Security, Advanced Concepts, Enterprise Engineering, and Operations).
What you will do
Your projects will include design, analysis, and test of fluid components and systems, propulsion systems, and mechanical systems. Work spans applied fluid and mechanical engineering, including materials and processes integration, manufacturing, systems test, operations, and systems engineering. Duties align with business unit objectives.

Required qualifications
- BS degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, or related engineering field
- Degree earned within the last year; able to start Fall 2027
- Strong fundamentals in propulsion, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis
- Relevant internship, co-op, or hands-on experience demonstrating technical skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
- Flexible, adaptable mindset; self-driven with ability to seek requirements with minimal direction
Desired qualifications
- MS degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- 3D CAD programs
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Low-pressure fluid systems (fans, ducting, heat exchangers, capillary pumps, valves, manifolds, fittings, tubing, seals)
- Thermodynamics, fluid flow, or heat transfer analysis
- Safety assessment and operation of pressurized test hardware
- Machining, building, and maintaining pressurized or mechanical systems
Experience in aerospace is not required. Blue Origin values perspectives from tech, oil and gas, nuclear, automotive, and other industries.
Compensation and benefits
Base pay range (varies by location):
- Colorado applicants: $74,537.00 - $104,351.10
- Washington applicants: $81,313.00 - $113,837.85
- Other site ranges may differ
