Fluids Systems Engineer II – Helium Verified today
About this role
You will work on the Lunar Permanence business unit, developing Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers. This position sits within the Gas and Thrusters (G&T) team on the Transfer Stage Vehicle, where you will be responsible for design of helium subsystem components and sub-assemblies under a senior engineer.
You will size, select materials, and analyze components for structural integrity due to pressure, vibration, fracture, and fatigue.
What you'll do
- Design fluids sub-assemblies and parts in CAD (Creo preferred)
- Analyze custom components for fluid, thermal, and structural applications
- Interpret and generate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&Ds) using AutoCAD
- Create specifications for fluid/gas components including solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
- Develop and maintain interface definitions between fluid systems and other vehicle subsystems
- Perform component trade studies and analyze test data
- Work with suppliers and Blue Origin groups on component identification and support procurement, fabrication, and installation
- Perform component verification to company standards
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)
- 2+ years of proven experience in aerospace fluid or mechanical systems design
- Knowledge and experience with gas systems
- Proficiency in engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Experience performing flow and pressure calculations and structural and thermal analysis of fluid systems
- Understanding of fluid components such as valves, tubing, and pressurized hardware
- Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.)
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communications skills
- U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum
Preferred
- Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field
- Hands-on experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systems
Compensation and benefits
Base pay range for Washington applicants: $99,201-$138,880.35 per year. Other site ranges may differ.
