Overview

Join Blue Origin's Launch and Test Operations team within the Launch Operations Division. You will test, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot ground support equipment (GSE) and test-enabling hardware at Launch Complex 36, Launch Complexes 11 and 12, Module Test Area (MTA), and Mobile Test Stand (MTS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, construct, operate, and maintain test facilities supporting development, qualification, and production of orbital rockets, lunar spacecraft, and launch vehicle systems.
  • Generate and execute test procedures involving high-pressure inert and non-inert gas systems, cryogenic and hypergolic fluid systems.
  • Work with technicians to perform facility work, handle test articles, and lead test operations.
  • Review and interpret test data to assess facility and component-level health and performance.
  • Size, select, troubleshoot, and maintain test, launch, and fluid system components and instrumentation.
  • Perform Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs) to identify safety incidents and operational issues.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable test and maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation, work instructions, and inspection plans for routine and corrective maintenance.
  • Support root cause analysis of non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure work aligns with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality and safety standards.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cadence improvement, and cost reduction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Experience supporting test teams as a fluids test engineer, console operator, or equivalent hands-on role (0-3 years for Level I, 3+ years for Level II, 5+ years for Level III, 8+ years for Senior Level).
  • Working knowledge of pressurized gas systems, cryogenics, fluid systems, hydraulics, instrumentation and controls, or structural components.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and instrumentation related to fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems with ability to read schematics and P&IDs.
  • 1+ years of experience developing work instructions or test procedures for upgrades, maintenance, and system verification.
  • Strong commitment to safety and proven ability to execute or oversee multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to support off-shift, extended hours, and weekends as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident with current Green Card, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cryogenics, monopropellants, hydraulics, or high-pressure systems.
  • Experience testing and integrating fluid systems, ground support systems, and propulsion hardware.
  • Experience developing and verifying installation and operation procedures for mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with automated test equipment, calibration, and configuration management.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid design and verification fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, AutoCAD P&ID, Winplot, Windchill, or CREO.
  • Experience with electrical equipment including electronics, transducers, PLCs, and software systems.
  • Experience leveraging AI to streamline workflow and test automation.
  • Background in hazardous operations, design for safety, MIL-STD-810, and AS9100.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools, fabrication, and integration processes.

  • Shift B: Monday-Friday (Evening)
  • Shift C: Friday-Sunday (Day)
  • Shift D: Friday-Sunday (Evening)

Physical Requirements

Test Operations is a physically active, year-round role with indoor and outdoor work in all seasons including rain, wind, cold, heat, and humidity. This position requires:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
  • Ability to work at heights
