Liquids Hardware Design Engineer II Verified today
The Role
You will design, analyze, build, test, integrate, and operate fluids and propulsion subsystems for lunar mission vehicles. You will own the complete lifecycle of mission-critical hardware that directly enables lunar logistics and human exploration.
Key Responsibilities
- Define fluids component requirements that meet system needs, negotiate interfaces, and evaluate in-house and vendor designs
- Conduct first-order analyses and generate component details
- Present component designs in vehicle design reviews and integration forums
- Generate and release engineering drawings
- Work with supplier teams to procure materials, finalize design, and deliver components
- Generate test and analysis reports following subsystem test campaigns
- Provide complete component verification products
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in aerospace propulsion and fluid analysis and piping design, including process component selection and process fluid design architecture
- Familiarity with propulsion and fluid system components (valves, regulators, pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids)
- Ability to interpret and generate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Ability to create fabrication and installation drawings with Creo Parametric
Desired Qualifications
- Cryogenic fluids knowledge including testing
- Experience performing structural and fluid design and analysis of piping and tubing systems using ANSYS or Thermal Desktop
- Experience with Creo Parametric and Windchill
- Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of piping systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding)
- Advanced Engineering degree (Masters or PhD)
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance
Work Environment
- Location: Space Coast, FL
- Schedule: 1st Shift, 8am-5pm (may vary based on mission phase)
- Occasional travel up to 15% of the time
- Relocation provided
