About the Role

Blue Origin Operations is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems for lunar vehicle production. You will ensure stringent quality control throughout production, optimize supply chain logistics, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support industrialization of new products including solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures
• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT)
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods such as composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly
• Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and implement corrective actions
• Ensure alignment with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
• Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines
• Identify efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities
• Develop expertise in at least one specialty area: solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, or structures

Position Details

• Shift: 1st, Mon-Fri (8am-5pm)
• Location: Space Coast, FL, Lunar Plant 2
• Travel: Up to 10% for training and support activities

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university
• 3+ years experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
• 3+ years experience creating English work instructions
• Must be U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card), or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum
• Must be able to work shifts and extended hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in relevant engineering field
• Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification
• Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards
• Aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing experience with expertise in composite structure manufacturing, hand layup, tool and mandrel design, quality control, and composite repair
• Proficiency in CAD and FEA software: Creo, ANSYS Workbench, FEMAP, NASTRAN, NX Advanced Simulation
• Demonstrated ability in hand calculations, freebody diagrams, and FEM/structural analysis
• Strong expertise in DFM and DFA with transition from development to production
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, FMEA, CNC machining, welding, sheetmetal, assembly
• Hands-on assembly and integration experience with aerospace vehicles and mechanisms
• Experience designing and commissioning tooling and fixtures
• Familiarity with advanced metrology (CMM, laser scanning) and manufacturing automation
• Proficiency with PLM/PDM/MRP systems including Windchill and Teamcenter
• Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) and BOM reconciliation
• Familiarity with industry standards (ASME BTH-1, ACI 318, JSC-65289, NASA SP-8077)
• Support for requirements generation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and Interface Control Models (ICMs)
• Hands-on cleanroom experience (ISO 8 preferred)
• New Product Introduction (NPI) or production transition involvement
• Project management methodology knowledge
• Ability to mentor engineers and technicians
