Lunar Manufacturing Engineer III, Sr - Thermal (Multiple Shifts) Verified today
Role Overview
Join Blue Origin Operations as a Lunar Manufacturing Engineer focused on thermal systems. You will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing processes, ensure quality control throughout production, and optimize operations for the Transporter vehicle destined for lunar missions.
What You'll Do
- Support industrialization of thermal components including solar arrays, radiators, multi-layer insulation (MLI), thermal coatings, and fluid transport systems.
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) to build reliable vehicles for space exploration.
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation: work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
- Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies: composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly.
- Support root cause analysis of non-conformances and develop corrective actions to enhance reliability.
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of production lines and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality and safety standards.
- Identify efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities.
- Develop expertise in thermal systems and related specialty areas.
Minimum Qualifications
