Lunar Operations - Quality Engineer III (Weekend C and D Shifts) Verified today
Role Overview
You will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager as part of Blue Origin Operations. Your work will support the development, testing, and launch of space systems for Blue Origin's lunar and spaceflight missions.
Shift Details
- C Shift: Friday to Sunday, 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- D Shift: Friday to Sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM
- Position requires shift flexibility to align with business needs
- Relocation provided
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes for products in development and production environments
- Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organizational quality goals
- Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records
- Perform periodic audits of quality system application in accordance with AS9100
- Participate in engineering design reviews and recommend improvements to quality and manufacturability
- Recommend and implement initiatives and changes to improve product and system quality
- Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test teams
- Collaborate with internal and external customers on quality concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Science
- 5+ years' proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems and related quality systems
- Ability to support manufacturing schedules and overtime on an as-needed basis
Desired Qualifications
- American Society of Quality Certified Quality Engineer certification
- Experience in aerospace, space launch, military, or commercial aviation
- Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), and control plans
- Experience in composites manufacturing
- Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
- Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
- GD&T fundamentals
- Quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and corrective action
- Quality Management System audit experience
- Quality performance measurement and analysis capabilities
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or comparable certification
