About the role
You will lead the design and implementation of manufacturing systems for Blue Origin's lunar avionics hardware. Working within the Lunar Operations Core Components Manufacturing Engineering team, you will translate complex design requirements into manufacturable processes that support controllers, cameras, radar, and antennas destined for lunar exploration.
This is an A shift role (Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm) with up to 10% travel for training and support activities.
What you will do
- Support industrialization of new avionics products including design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT)
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation: work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
- Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies (composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly)
- Support root cause analysis of non-conformances and develop corrective actions
- Ensure all work aligns with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality and safety standards
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines
- Identify efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities
- Develop expertise in at least one key specialty area: avionics, solar arrays, integration and test, build flow, or structures
