Role Overview
As an Assembly & Integration Technician at Blue Origin, you will provide hands-on technical support to engineering, production, and manufacturing teams by performing assembly, integration, testing, modification, and checkout of aerospace systems and hardware. Working from engineering drawings, schematics, and detailed work instructions, you will build, integrate, and troubleshoot prototype and production mechanical systems, structural systems, and avionics systems. You will perform operational tests, fault isolation, and assist in remedying malfunctions, ensuring all systems meet rigorous quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and integrate subcomponents and final assemblies of all major structural, mechanical, and avionics systems according to engineering specifications.
- Configure production work areas with necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow during high-rate manufacturing transitions.
- Operate precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
- Perform operational tests, troubleshooting, and fault isolation to ensure the integrity and reliability of assembled systems.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for safety, efficiency, and productivity.
- Support the transition from development to production, performing preventative maintenance as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
Team Focus
You will play a pivotal role in assembling, integrating, and verifying aerospace components and systems including primary structure, mechanical assemblies, MLI, and avionics for the Lunar Human Landing System products. You will collaborate on transforming how Lunar Lander Products are made and integrated, directly impacting the reliability and performance of Lunar Vehicle Systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing, integration, or related field (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician, 8+ Sr Level Technician)
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Hands-on experience with assembly and integration of structural and mechanical systems.
- Mechanical skills (torquing, Composi-Loks, etc.)
- Structures experience (jig positioning, drilling, liquid shim, etc.)
- Basic electrical test (use of DMMs, basic knowledge of voltage/current/resistance)
- Avionics fabrication and assembly including soldering, crimping, and wire harnessing
- Experience with bonding adhesives and sealants (polymeric mix/application)
- Proficient with precision calibration tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
- Basic proficiency in computer usage, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in related field.
- Direct experience with wing structure assembly/integration, avionics integration, and aerospace launch vehicle or spacecraft assembly.
- Knowledge of precision assembly processes for large aerospace components.
- Small-scale Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) experience
- Experience with composites production
- Strong technical and leadership skills with attention to detail, especially when leading teams on complex integration tasks.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes.
- Experience with the operation of industrial power vehicles (forklift, scissor lift, boom lift).
- Industrial Robot Operation: Safely operating, tending, and performing fault recovery on SCARA robots using a teach pendant, including the ability to touch-up points
- Ability to work with and perform basic adjustments to vision systems for guidance and inspection, as well as troubleshoot various machine sensors
- Ability to diagnose and resolve faults in an integrated system by interpreting HMI alarms and monitoring PLC-controlled components
- Rigorous, detail-oriented approach to following complex work instructions and performing in-process quality checks
- Drill precision holes using power feed, track, and hand drills; maintain strict quality tolerances and proper angularity across aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and composite materials.
- Install and safety-wire threaded fasteners, cotter pins, retaining rings, and other locking features at safety-critical mechanical joints in accordance with flight hardware retention requirements
